Important: This is a concise version of
the procedure for installation of HYSYS on a network. For a more thorough
explanation of the installation tasks, including error messages and general
guidelines, please refer to the “Get Started” manual of the software. You
can find this manual in your Documentation CD.
STEP A -
Installing HYSYS and Drivers
- Make sure that you have plugged the beige security key in the parallel
port of the server.
- Put the program CD in the CD-ROM driver of our PC (for example, drive “D”)
and wait for Autorun feature of the CD to be activated. An introduction view
will appear on your screen.
Note: Alternatively,
you can run the setup.exe program in PROCESS subdirectory.
- Click on “Process” and give an
installation path on the server of your own choice.
- Follow the instructions
onscreen. Please make sure you will select and enter the right installation
code from the back of your CD case.
Continue until the successful installation dialog box appears.
- Next, click on “Browse CD” on the introduction view.
- Switch to “D:\NETDISK\SERVERS\WIN32” subdirectory and run Nsrvgx.exe. It
takes about 30 seconds to load.
- Then, switch to “D:\NETDISK\DRIVERS\WIN_NT” subdirectory and run
Setupx86.exe.
- In the window that appears, select 'File; Install' feature.
- Restart the computer and open NSRVGX.
- The first line of the table should contain information about the key.
STEP B - Running HYSYS on the Server
Note: you can skip this step, but it is a useful
check.
- Make a “shortcut” link on
your server desktop for running HYSYS.
- Right-click on the shortcut, select Properties, and go to “Shortcut” Tab.
- Click on “Target” text box.
- (It reads, for example, "C:\Program Files\Hyprotech\Hysys.exe")
- Add ' -local' to the end of this path. Now, it should look like this: "C:\Program
Files\Hyprotech\Hysys.exe" -local.
- Note: the two quotation marks are necessary
- Press OK, go to desktop again, and double-click on the shortcut to run HYSYS.
(it should be OK)
- If it is OK, delete the term ' -local'.
STEP C – Installing and Running HYSYS on Workstations/PC’s
- On one of the
workstations/PC’s, install HYSYS exactly like you did on the server.
- Run HYSYS by
double-clicking on the shortcut on the
workstation.
STEP D - Configuring HYSYS on Workstations
- Make 3 subdirectories
named PAKS, USER, and CASES in the local path, that is, in C:\Program
Files\Hyprotech.
- While HYSYS is open, go to the menu address “Tools; Preferences”
and press “Save Preference Set”.
- A “Save” Window
appears.
- Make sure you are
saving on the same subdirectory you mentioned in the shortcut, i.e., C:\Program
Files\Hyprotech.
- Make sure also that the
file name you are going to save will be HYSYS.PRF. Then, press “Save” and close
HYSYS.
Repeat the instructions
in steps C and D above on all workstations that will be used later for running
HYSYS. At this stage, your HYSYS.Process is ready for use.
Please note that you do not need the HYSYS installed on your server any more.
Troubleshooting
If you encountered any
problems, please refer to your documentation first. If not resolved,
please make a note of all error or warning messages you get during the
process and send it to Simulation Support at simsup@nioc.org
